Yes, it is a worry, and no-one wants to have to go back to the really strict limitations.

Rest assured that when you visit the Salon we are taking steps to minimise any risks.

We will see you by appointment, to ensure the shop does not become overcrowded and give us time to clean and sanitise surfaces and touch points before you arrive. We will be maintaining Covid-19 compliance.

When you arrive for your appointment, we’ll ask you to confirm that you are not experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms.

Let’s work together to make your Leila O’Toole experience a positive one.  Please call us on (02) 9231 1705.  We’d love to hear from you.

call for volunteers with persistent pain

Denise Stewart is a highly-regarded occupational therapist who is looking for volunteers to participate in a workshop on November 16 and 17.

After breast cancer, at least 50% of people struggle with long-term side effects: pain, weakness and dysfunction in activities of daily living.

Supporting Best Recovery After Breast Cancer Surgery Workshop

Volunteers are being sought for the workshop to help therapists learn new rehab skills more thoroughly. Therapists will be learning skills in assessment and treatment of scar tissue and common shoulder and trunk pain and musculo-skeletal issues.
If you are interested in participating, Denise Stewart will ask for you to complete and return via email a couple of assessment forms. She will use this only to assist in the volunteer selection process. If you would like to send your chest/arm reach photo, it will be deleted from her computer once the workshop is completed.
6-8 health professionals will be training at the workshop. You will have a comprehensive assessment for pain and movement on the side/s of your breast surgery. This will be followed by a treatment session by two workshop participants who are therapists, and, if you choose, by Denise Stewart.
We hope to record (by video/images) your hands-on assessment and treatment.
(Viewing will only be by the other workshop participants on that day, with your approval.)
Volunteers will spend 1 hour on one or both days and will receive an assessment and treatments for tightness at the chest and shoulder. (There is no payment fee for the volunteer.)

Saturday 16 November 2019 (for 1 hour between 11am - 3pm)
Sunday 17 November 2019 (for 1 hour between 11am - 3pm)

Song Hotel , 5-11 Wentworth Ave, Sydney (near Hyde Park)

Contact Denise Stewart via email at breastandshoulderehab@gmail.com if you are interested in volunteering for an hour at the workshop.

CARING FOR YOUR NEW BRA

22/2/2019

Using a lingerie bag and closing the fasteners are the best ways to keep your lingerie safe in the wash. You may prefer to hand wash, but most lingerie can be washed at a low temperature of 30° in the washing machine, using the delicate wash cycle.

If your washing machine doesn’t have a delicate wash cycle, use the wash cycle “easy-care” in conjunction with mild detergent. Please do not use fabric softener because it damages the fibres.
Dry your bras on a clothes horse. Never dry them in the dryer, on the radiator or in direct sun light because extreme heat accelerates the wear of fabrics and lace.

who are we?

We're a group of women with a combined total of 180 years of experience in fitting breast care bras and prostheses. But we're more than just names on business cards or voices over the phone.  We all have our stories and some surprising quirks.

MARIE HARLAND is our business owner/Managing Director/CEO/VBL (Very Busy Lady). Born in Ireland, she lived in some amazing places before settling in Sydney. Marie has a great memory for the clients she has met over her 57 years of fitting.

PAULINE CAMPBELL, our store manager ('the Boss") has notched up 47 years of experience, which is amazing because she says she's only 39. Loves a good laugh, her four grandchildren, musical theatre and ballet. And her husband.

LISA WINNETT has been lighting up the shop with her colourful hair and original fashions for 7 years. But did you know that she also designs swimwear?

KAREN HUMBERGE has been in the business for 41 years.  Loves bonsai and genealogy, and is a confirmed AFL tragic - has been known to drop everything to watch a victory parade. She's also currently trying to rehome some koi fish that have outgrown her pond.

JANE BEECH:  Not just a soccer mum to her two sons. Has been a fitter for 24 years. She's energetic - her early ballet training has morphed into a love of Jazzercise. And she loves arts and crafts.

SALLY NASR came to Leila O'Toole 4 years ago. She's a doting grandmother, loves to cook (a lot) and cares for her extended family. And she speaks Arabic.
